Showcasing Cebuano cultural extravaganza, Mandani Bay hosted on January 16 the Sinulog sa Mandani in celebration of the 456th Fiesta Señor.
Following strict implementation of health protocols, the by-invitation only event highlighted different musical and dance performances from various towns and cities in Cebu. The event was also held outdoors.
“At Mandani Bay, we believe that a passion for creativity and culture is at the center of a modern community that nurtures the soul. This is why we always strive to nurture this passion by celebrating our history, heritage, and arts,” said Gilbert Ang, Project Director of HTLand, developer of Mandani Bay.
The celebration capped off with a grand fireworks display.
Below are the highlights of the event.
Celebration of faith and culture
An anticipated yearly tradition, Mandani Bay hosts a series of Sinulog related festivities every January to honor Sr. Sto. Niño, Patron Saint of Cebu. But with the current global health crisis, Mandani Bay opted to hold a single event this year due to social distancing and other health guidelines.
Normally, Mandani Bay would host the Balikbayan Night, a tribute to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) coming home for the Fiesta Señor and Sinulog Festival which highlights a colourful extravaganza of traditional Filipino dances and music as well as familiar Filipino food delights.
Also every year since 2016, Mandani Bay would usually host the Sinulog Fluvial Viewing, one of the highlights of the Fiesta Señor, offering an up close view of the sea-borne salute to the Christ Child.
The Fluvial Procession Viewing is held at what will soon be the Mandani Bay Boardwalk facing the Mactan Channel and accommodates thousands of devotees each year. The event also features a cultural show and a grand fireworks display greeting the Sto. Niño vessel as it passes through.
